Paul Clarke is the Editor in Chief of Imbibe magazine. A journalist who has specialized in spirits, cocktails, and the culture of drink for almost 20 years, he has written for the New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Serious Eats, and many other publications and websites, and in 2014 was recognized with a Spirited Award from Tales of the Cocktail as Best Cocktail Writer. The author of The Cocktail Chronicles: Navigating the Cocktail Renaissance with Jigger, Shaker and Glass (2015), he was also a contributor to (and member of the editorial board for) The Oxford Companion to Spirits and Cocktails (2021), and his work has appeared in The New York Times Essential Book of Cocktails (2022). In addition to writing about spirits and cocktails, he frequently speaks about these subjects at events including Tales of the Cocktail, Bar Convent Berlin, Portland Cocktail Week, Kentucky Bourbon Classic, BACoctel Buenos Aires, and Charleston Wine and Food. He holds a WSET Level 3 Certification in Spirits and is a WSET Certified Spirits Educator, and regularly judges competitions ranging from the American Distilling Institute’s International Spirits Competition to Speed Rack. He lives in Seattle.
