As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, our Mission is to celebrate, educate, enrich, and promote the Lowcountry’s diverse culinary + hospitality community through world-class experiences. Our values of People First, Community, and Good Stewardship, are the guiding principles of our organization and have a positive impact on the local community.
We strive to be a good steward of our city and its foodways and to produce the most sustainable + environmentally-friendly festival possible.
We are committed to using 100% compostable or reusable serviceware. Festival items that cannot be composted are recycled, and oyster shells are recycled in conjunction with the Department of Natural Resources.
Over 75% of all design elements are rented or used year-over-year, and through additional efforts like going strawless, offering napkins upon request, and implementing water usage protocols in our prep kitchens, we have made considerable efforts to reduce our carbon footprint.
The annual festival is paramount to the organization’s focus. It’s a platform to share stories, elevate the people in this community, celebrate our city and the Lowcountry, and create an enriching experience for the people who live + work here.
Ninety-five cents of every dollar we spend producing the festival has a direct measurable impact on our city’s economy. Year after year, the economic impact of Charleston Wine + Food is more than quadruple the organization’s annual budget.
Financial Transparency + Integrity
For two consecutive years, Charleston Wine + Food has earned a coveted four-star rating from Charity Navigator for sound fiscal management practices and a proven commitment to accountability + transparency.
This highest possible rating illustrates our commitment to good governance and highlights how we pursue our mission in a fiscally-responsible way.
We are proud to continue taking steps to be accountable, transparent, and financially healthy, and look forward to continuing to support + uplift our vibrant culinary + hospitality community.
