Krista Slater is a painter turned sommelier with a passion for well-made cocktails. A Certified Sommelier since 2006, she has worked for over a decade in the world of wine and restaurants, first in the Bay Area and now in Georgia. Krista owns and operates The Expat, a bistro and cocktail bar in Athens, Ga with her husband and business partner, Jerry Slater. This new venture was named one of “The Best new Bars in the South, 2018” in Garden & Gun Magazine. The Slaters are also partners in Flying Pig Hospitality, a restaurant and beverage program consulting company. She is currently a member of the Atlanta Chapter of Les Dames D'Escoffier International.
