With a remarkable career spanning over 30 years, Chef Joel Miller has left an indelible mark on Oxford's vibrant culinary scene. Now, he brings his wealth of expertise and innovative approach to the food and beverage program at The Oliver Hotel Oxford (formally Chancellor’s House), infusing the hotel’s restaurant, Kingswood, with new flavors and menus that highlight locally
sourced ingredients. Miller's journey began by earning his associate in culinary arts from Johnson & Wales University. He then embarked on a culinary adventure across the United States, honing his skills and expanding his knowledge in renowned kitchens in Memphis, Charleston, San Francisco, New Orleans, and Puerto Rico. In 2007, Miller found his way to Oxford and has since
been an integral part of the local culinary landscape. Prior to The Oliver Hotel, Miller was the owner and operator of Ravine for 15 years. Additionally, he served as the front of house manager and wine buyer at Catch restaurant in San Francisco. Prior to that, he honed his skills as a sous chef at Beauty Shop in Memphis and the Inn on the Blue Horizon. Opened in 2023, Kingswood pays homage to the culinary history and landscape of Mississippi. Led by Miller, the restaurant is aimed at fostering community through shared plates in a tasteful, casual space.
