Jeremy Carter
Years of Participation
2023-2024
Jeremy Carter is founder and winemaker for Tarpon Cellars, a label that produces single-vineyard, minimal-intervention wines in Napa Valley. Although Tarpon Cellars wines are grown, harvested and bottled in Napa, the brand has Southern roots.
Jeremy grew up in Atlanta and graduated from Florida State University. His first foray into the world of wine was landing an internship in 2007 at his uncle’s small family winery in Rutherford, CA, William Harrison Vineyards. Although the internship mostly consisted of cleaning barrels and hauling equipment, Jeremy became enthralled and knew it was his calling. While studying winemaking at UC Davis, he also worked in vineyard positions throughout Napa, Sonoma and New Zealand.
In 2007, Jeremy and his college buddy and business partner, Parrish Owens, founded Tarpon Cellars with the goal of building a brand that focuses on inclusivity and building community. Inspired by his travels to wine regions in Spain, Portugal, France and beyond, Jeremy strives to introduce American wine lovers to grapes prominent in international regions but uncommon in California markets.
Fascinated by the creative expression inherent in winemaking, art, music and philanthropy, Jeremy has built a business model around them. Through wines made to share with friends and family, original playlists, events and causes to support every new vintage, Tarpon Cellars nurtures generosity, community + creativity.
Jeremy splits time between California and Charleston, where in his spare time he enjoys live music, raw oysters, and hot yoga.
