Years of Participation

2022-2024

Emma Dingler was born and raised in Spartanburg, South Carolina before moving to Charleston in 2013 for school. As a child she loved baking, often watching cake and sugar sculpture competition shows on Food Network. She spent a lot of time in the kitchen with family, baking pretend, and sometimes real, cupcakes in her grandma's oven. Around the age of 10 she began volunteering to bake birthday cakes for her brothers and other family members. They were very kind in receiving those early lopsided, sloppily iced cakes, but they always tasted good, and it set off a life long love of, and a drive to be better at, baking.

After moving to Charleston she found entry jobs in the food and bev industry, scooping fancy ice cream and attempting to master a southern staple: the biscuit. Moving then into the fast casual brunch life, she met her current employer, DaVee Harned. In working with DaVee, Emma was able to really begin developing a wider variety of pastry techniques and learn what it takes to function in a fast paced kitchen environment. She was more than glad to join the team when Davee opened her own bakery, Little Peanut Bake Shop. Here she as been able to help produce fresh, scratch made pastries by hand every morning for the past two years.

Working in pastry allows Emma to engage her creative side at work, being able to use her hands to make something that can be delicious and beautiful. She truly believes that food and cooking can be healing, whether its for yourself or others. While the work can be exhausting, as baker's life consists of lots of early mornings, hours on your feet and the occasional burnt finger tip, it's worth it to be able to brighten someone's day, even for a moment. It's nice to be a part of peoples special moments, even if its just providing sweets and snacks. She is grateful to be part of the hardworking team at Little Peanut.
