Born and raised on the docks in Wrightsville Beach, NC, Danny has always been in or around the saltwater. His family has commercial shrimp and fish boats offloading while he was running around as a child. Danny’s family had restaurants where he learned to cook at an early age while watching his mom (Marlene “Mimi”). After high school, Danny attended Johnson & Wales in Charleston, to add to his already strong base of knowledge. For more formal training, Danny moved to the kitchens at the famed Greenbrier in West Virginia. Danny returned to Charleston and helped at the family restaurant. Danny married and started a family and has transitioned from full time kitchen work to working directly in the Seafood Industry; commercial fishing and working with wholesale seafood companies. He still cooks and can be seen at festivals such as Lambstock and Charleston Wine & Food. Danny enjoys working with Chefs that care about the source and quality of their products. Danny is building his own business, “Legit Seafood LLC”, which is supplying only American caught seafood to local chefs. He consults with numerous fisher and oyster men and does high end private chef work.
