Clay Risen is an award-winning reporter at The New York Times and the author, most recently, of "American Rye: A Guide to the Nation's Original Spirit" and "Bourbon: The Story of Kentucky Whiskey." His first book on spirits, "American Whiskey, Bourbon and Rye: A Guide to the Nation's Favorite Spirit," has sold more than 115,000 copies. His other books include "Single Malt: A Guide to the Whiskies of Scotland," "The Impossible Collection of Whiskey" and the forthcoming "American Rye: A Guide to the Nation's Original Spirit." Risen has also written several books on American history, including, most recently, "The Crowded Hour: Theodore Roosevelt, the Rough Riders and the Dawn of the American Century."
