Ben Norton

Executive Chef Ben Norton got his start in restaurants as a teenager, working in kitchens throughout high school in his hometown of Atlanta, and hasn’t stopped since. Knowing he was destined for a life as a chef, he earned his Associates Degree in Culinary Arts from Chattahoochee Technical College in Atlanta. Following graduation, he took a job at Restaurant Eugene to train under James Beard Award-winning Chef Linton Hopkins. After 3 years as Executive Sous Chef, Norton decided to head to the Lowcountry to join the team at McCrady’s in Downtown Charleston in 2015.
First serving as Sous Chef, Norton recognizes the privilege of working in the tasting-menu format that allows the small team of young chefs to foster their creativity and fresh approach to fine-dining. After almost one year as Sous Chef, he was promoted to Executive Chef in 2019. As Executive Chef, Norton strives to create a sophisticated dining experience unlike any in Charleston, while keeping the menu fun and approachable. Focusing on education and constant learning from the great chefs across the country, his creativity is driven by exploring everyday life and translating them into innovative dishes.
As a car aficionado, Norton enjoys working on old cars and motorcycles when he’s not in the kitchen.
