James Beard Award–winner and Relais & Châteaux Grand Chef Barbara Lynch is regarded as one of the world’s leading chefs and restaurateurs. During her early career, Barbara worked under some of Boston’s greatest culinary talents including Chef Mario Bonello and Chef Todd English, and it wasn’t until after traveling to Italy where she learned about the country’s cuisine firsthand from local women that she was inspired to open her own restaurants. In 1998, Barbara opened No. 9 Park in Boston’s Beacon Hill neighborhood, which was named one of the “Top 25 New Restaurants in America” by Bon Appétit and “Best New Restaurant” by Food & Wine. Since then, Barbara opened six other concepts in Boston—B&G Oysters, The Butcher Shop, Stir, Drink, Menton, and Sportello—all of which bring their own unique cuisine and exciting dining experience to the city. Throughout her revered career, Barbara and her restaurants have received numerous accolades, including Bon Appétit and Esquire’s best new restaurants in 2010 (Menton), Relais & Châteaux distinction (Menton), 2003 James Beard Foundation award for “Best Chef Northeast” (Barbara Lynch), 2014 James Beard Foundation award for “Outstanding Restaurateur” (Barbara Lynch), and 2010 James Beard Foundation Award nomination for “Best New Restaurant” (Menton), among many others. She was also named to the TIME 100, Time Magazine’s annual list of the world’s most influential people, in 2017.
