Alec Gropman

Growing up in Southeast Connecticut, Alec Gropman knew from a young age that food was his passion. He spent the earlier part of his career working in small Italian restaurants and went on to eventually graduate from the Culinary Institute of America. A fresh graduate eager to move to the culinary mecca of Charleston, Alec landed with Uptown Hospitality Group as the opening Sous Chef for Uptown Social before quickly rising through the ranks to Operating Partner and Executive Chef. Alec currently serves as Uptown Hospitality’s Director of Culinary Operations and oversees Uptown Social and the group’s two newest concepts: Bodega and Share House.
