Over the last few years, he's documented how the pandemic has impacted the people, restaurants, and communities throughout New York for The New York Times, Bloomberg, and The Wall Street Journal. Most recently, Clay's work has allowed him to photograph the food and stories of James Beard Rising Star Chef Kwame Onwuachi and Gullah Matriarch Ms. Emily Meggett, whose cookbooks were released in Spring of 2022.
Clay is also the co-founder of Black Food Folks, a platform for Black professionals working in food, food service and food media. The group has provided space for members to meet, collaborate, and share their stories.
