Charleston Wine + Food

JUSTIN, renowned for over 40 years of winemaking excellence in California’s Central Coast, is making history by expanding its acclaimed portfolio beyond Paso Robles. This March, JUSTIN introduced its Sonoma County Chardonnay and Russian River Valley Pinot Noir demonstrating its commitment to exploring and showcasing the diverse terroirs of California, and the best in California winemaking.

As the pioneer of Paso Robles, chardonnay was one of the first varietals planted by founder Justin Baldwin in 1981, and the very first wine released from the 1987 vintage. The addition of the Sonoma County Chardonnay draws on that legacy from JUSTIN’s Paso Robles estate, while adding a new angle to the variety and allowing us to bring Chardonnay to more consumers nationwide.

Sourced from Sangiacomo Family Vineyards in Sonoma and Flocchini Vineyards in Petaluma, the Sonoma County Chardonnay is bright and highly aromatic with notes of spice-baked apple, Meyer lemon, ripe Bosc pear, and a touch of flinty minerality. The lingering finish leaves a trail of nuanced citrus, orchard fruit, and vanilla spice.

The Russian River Valley Pinot Noir embodies the essence of the region. Crafted through the lens of the winery’s founding inspiration, this complex wine features notes of ripe black plum, boysenberry, dark cherry, and stewed strawberry, leading to bright notes of cranberry with a finish of fall leaves and spice.

Founder Justin Baldwin reflects on this release, stating, “The Sonoma County Chardonnay is an especially nostalgic release, as it’s a nod to our storied legacy and celebrates JUSTIN’s bright future – what’s old is new again!”

Available at JUSTINWine.com, the limited first production of the 2022 JUSTIN Sonoma County Chardonnay and Russian River Valley Pinot Noir embodies JUSTIN’s winemaking philosophy, combining traditional old-world methods with grapes sourced from the new world epicenter of Burgundian fruit, Sonoma County. This regional expansion and the long-awaited Chardonnay and Pinot Noir releases signify a commitment to the brand’s legacy for the next generation. To learn more about JUSTIN and acquire your own collection, please visit JUSTINWine.com.
