Years of Participation

Chef Trey Dutton has had a passion for cooking from a young age, influenced by the time he spent with his grandmothers in their kitchens. This passion, combined with exposure to exceptional food, led Dutton to the Culinary Institute of Charleston, where he graduated in 2004. Chef Dutton spent years in upscale dining and has extensive experience in luxury resort kitchen operations. Throughout his career, Dutton has gained invaluable experience working alongside two James Beard Award Winning chefs, Chef Mike Lata and Chef Robert Stehling, and in 2015, Chef Dutton was named by Food & Wine as one of 5 Charleston Rising Star Chefs to Watch. As Executive Chef of 1KEPT Charleston, Dutton’s vision revolves around “New South” cuisine, sourcing fresh, local ingredients whenever possible. He draws inspiration for 1KEPT Charleston from the food he grew up eating, using the bounty of what is available in South Carolina. Chef Dutton resides in Charleston with his wife and daughter. When he is not in the kitchen, you can find him playing bass at church, visiting local farms with his daughter for fresh produce, and making pickles and jam for his family company, Southern Keep.
