Alfonso and Rachel Castejón have operated a Spanish-food popup in and around Charleston, SC since 2018. Last year, they expanded their business to an online shop, La Andaluza, offering their most popular items in frozen form as well as specialty ceramics and kitchenware from southern Spain. Alfonso is orginally from Sevilla, Spain and he and Rachel got their start there as a couple while she lived in the city and worked as an English-as-a-foreign-language teacher, later moving back to Charleston, SC to start their business. Alfonso is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of Charleston and spent his first years here working many different positions in some of town’s best restaurants. La Andaluza is a celebration of all things southern Spain and everything Alfonso and Rachel hold dear from their favorite city, Sevilla.
