As a private chef, Chef Lauren Furey creates special, in-home culinary experiences. Her core focus is on coastal southern, coastal Italian, or a fusion of the two cuisines. She strives to make each meal an intimate and fun storytelling experience that guests can taste. Furey launched her personal chef business at Montage Palmetto Bluff and has expanded it to her hometown of Charleston and the surrounding areas. Furey is the host and producer of “Now We’re Cookin’” on South Carolina ETV, which premiered October 2024. The series teaches viewers how to prepare meals that can be served family style, encouraging joy and companionship.
At age 17, Furey landed a culinary internship at 333 Belrose, a well-regarded restaurant in Philadelphia’s suburbs. Furey’s newfound passion for cooking led to opportunities to cook on yachts, travel cross-country to cook for clients, and create meals for celebrities. Furey apprenticed with James Beard award-winning cookbook author and television show host, Nathalie Dupree. Aside from cooking, Nathalie tirelessly schooled Furey in the arts of storytelling and television. Furey cooked in restaurant kitchens throughout her college years. She graduated from the College of Charleston in 2019 with two degrees and 12 scholarships. Furey received the South Carolina Governor’s Award, as she was one of ten students recognized in South Carolina for exemplary work. She still regularly speaks to classes at the College of Charleston. Lauren is a member of Les Dames d’Escoffier, a prestigious philanthropic organization of women in the culinary industry. Furey has been featured in the Post and Courier, NPR, Charleston City Paper, The College Today and more.
