Jonathan Ross is a New Jersey born sommelier who spent most of his career working in the New York restaurant industry. Ross’s time in New York was capped off by a 5-year stint as the head sommelier at Eleven Madison Park which culminated in the restaurant’s rise to the top spot on the San Pellegrino 50 Best Restaurant List. In 2017, Ross passed the master sommelier exam, and relocated with his now wife, Jane Lopes, to Melbourne where he joined the Rockpool Dining Group as beverage director. While in Australia, he also curated the Qantas in -flight and lounge offering curation, and launched Micro Wines, a boutique wine label sold domestically, and exported to the US and Europe. Upon returning to the US, Ross and Lopes founded LEGEND Imports representing 30 different boutique Australian producers distributed nationally. The duo’s How to Drink Australian wine book will release in the US, UK and Australia summer 2023. Ross has been featured in numerous trade publications and on the TV docu-series Uncorked, is an industry educator and mentor, contributes to the efforts of the Hue Society and The VinGuard, won the GuildSomm ‘TopSomm’ national competition in 2015, and never goes anywhere without his mountain bike.
