Hernan is from the south…… just a little further than Georgia. Growing up in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Hernan has dear memories of asado (rustic outdoor cooking over open fire). The food was always so rudimentary but so tasteful. The family fellowship of the gaucho (rancher/cowboy in Argentina) process of cooking melded, friends and family together for hours in refreshing conversation and tangible eatery. He brings this way of life to the states after relocating to Miami in the late 90’s. Then he immediately began working in restaurants and later decided to attend culinary school at Le Cordon Bleu where he met, his now business partner, Alberto Llano. Hernan and Alberto opened their flagship restaurant Del Sur in Miami in 2011. It quickly became successful and thoughts of expansion were inevitable. After vacationing with his family in Savannah, Hernan stopped to visit friends in St. Simons Island and immediately knew that was where he wanted to raise his family and the market was perfect share is love, passion and culture of Argentinian cooking.

Del Sur has been open in St. Simons Island, GA since 2014 and has become a favorite of locals and tourists alike. Getting to share Patagonian style cooking with their customers has been a childhood dream realized. Their passion for food, del sur culture, integrity of ingredients and exceptional service is their key to success.
