2023-2025

Born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina, Chef Felix McCray developed his love for cooking early on, learning the art of baking bread alongside his grandmother. This formative experience in the kitchen sparked a lifelong passion for food and laid the foundation for his future career.

After graduating from North Charleston High School, Felix pursued his culinary education at the Charleston Culinary Institute, where he honed his skills and refined his understanding of Southern cuisine. At just sixteen years old, he landed his first restaurant job, initially applying as a dishwasher, only to be quickly promoted to cook. This early break marked the beginning of his dedication to the culinary arts.

In 2014, Felix took a significant step in his career by opening Mama’s Boy Takeout, a beloved local spot where he served elevated Southern comfort food. He operated the restaurant until 2016, gaining invaluable experience as both an entrepreneur and a chef.

Today, as an Executive Chef, Felix is known for his mastery of elevated Southern cooking—infusing traditional dishes with modern techniques while highlighting the rich, bold flavors of the Lowcountry. He is deeply proud of his roots and enjoys pushing the boundaries of Southern cuisine with creative new twists.

Beyond the kitchen, Felix enjoys exploring Charleston's diverse food scene, often venturing out to local restaurants to sample the latest culinary trends and flavors. His deep love for his hometown and its vibrant food culture continues to influence and inspire his work.
