Carolina Jewett

Years of Participation

When Carolina decided to purchase the Gelato shop at 6 Vendue range that had been there for 10 years, she had visions of a place where everyone could find a treat. Over the past 2 years, Carolina has transformed the small Gelateria into a must. The name of Charleston’s tastiest gelato shop is a play on words that honors the heritage of owner Carolina Jewett, whose father is from Colombia and mother is from Argentina. “Tinto” means “coffee” in Colombia but in Argentina to the south, it refers to red wine. Tinto y Crema in the tourist district, offers both -- and more, from Butcher and Bee pastries to Dalai Sophia Kombucha and Edmunds Oast beer.
“Having grown up in Charleston, I work hard to stick with local family-owned businesses to make exceptional products, guaranteeing the freshest most authentic tastes” she says. “We foster tradition and cherish recipes in hopes of bringing the highest quality products directly to you.”
Not only are all gelatos at Tinto y Crema made daily, but the shop uses its own specialty roast from Bootlegger Coffee to make delightful drinks. You can also get outstanding snacks and paninis evoking the spirit of outstanding European Gelateria.
