Charleston Wine + Food is thrilled to reveal the official poster of the 2016 Wine + Food Festival, created by local artist Whitney Kreb. Each year, Charleston Wine + Food collaborates with a local artist to produce an original piece of work that represents the distinct flavor of Charleston.
Kreb, who was selected as the poster artist last fall, splits her time between her two seaside homes: Charleston and Nantucket. Her artwork uniquely displays this beautiful elegance of her coastal living and upbringing, which can be found at downtown Charleston’s The George Gallery.
The charming poster depicts an aerial view of Charleston, highlighting special landmarks, which Kreb feels embodies the spirit of Charleston. Kreb notes that her poster was largely influenced by an old New Yorker cover “View of the World from 9th Avenue” by Paul Steinburg.
“I was particularly drawn to the perspective he created and thought it would be cool to adapt that vision into a ‘Charleston Perspective’ which would depict how locals and visitors alike might view our city” explains Kreb.
The 2016 official commemorative poster was revealed Wednesday, January 20 at Art in a Glass, the official Charleston Wine + Food Cocktail Competition.
Posters will be available for sale during the festival in the Culinary Village retail tent. (Find out more and get your tickets to Culinary Village here.)
