Tonya Mitchell is the College of Charleston’s Campus Executive Chef. She received her Pro Chef II and Pro Chef III Certification from the Culinary Institute of America, and has also appeared on the Food Network show Chopped as a semifinalist. Tonya’s Georgia and African American roots have strong influences on her cooking style which is often classified as southern, country or soul. Rich in flavors, textures, her cuisines have a modern twist on traditional dishes and cooking methods that can be found in such dishes as her Braised Short Rib Dim Sum & Pickled Daikon w/ Collard Green Consommé or her Low Country Seaside Cake which is a modern twist to the Low Country’s Frogmore Stew.
