Sean Bendig is the Executive Chef of Oak Steakhouse, carrying on the legacy of Charleston’s iconic Broad Street restaurant that’s been leading the Holy City dining scene for over two decades.
Philadelphia-born Bendig brings years of experience across restaurant and hotel kitchens in Philadelphia as well as cities like Baltimore, Austin, and across California. He felt a pull to join Charleston’s exciting restaurant community after a visit many years ago. He first joined The Indigo Road Hospitality Group in 2017 at Mercantile & Mash before taking the role of Sous Chef at Oak and eventually working his way to Executive Chef.
Now leading the Oak kitchen, Bendig approaches the menu with an eye for contemporary American cuisine and a desire to utilize ingredients in new ways while pulling global inspiration. He prides himself on Oak’s commitment to quality ingredients and top-notch service, which has gained the steakhouse a loyal group of longtime regulars in addition to serving as a destination for Charleston visitors. Bendig also enjoys serving as a leader among his staff and fostering growth within young chefs.
