A veteran winemaker with 35 years of experience, Russell Hearn was Australian born and trained before holding winemaking positions in New Zealand, Burgundy and California. In 1990, he came to Long Island, NY, and has since established himself as a leader among his East Coast winemaking peers. Possessing a rare combination of technical expertise, broad wine knowledge, critical acclaim and modest charm, Russell is someone you want to sit down and share a bottle of wine with. Just not Chardonnay. (He makes a damn good one but refuses to drink the stuff.) Russell is the full-time winemaker for Lieb Cellars as well as the executive director of Premium Wine Group, Lieb’s 250K case capacity custom crush winery.
