Years of Participation

2016-2025

A proud Fort Worth, Texas native, Monique Mickle has always found solace in the kitchen. From an early age, she cherished hours spent watching her mother cook with self-taught grace and creativity, and today, attributes this as the beginning of her lifelong love for food and the foundation for her imminent culinary journey.

In 2012, Monique transformed her passion into a profession, relocating to the Lowcountry to pursue a career in the restaurant industry. She began humbly, accepting her first kitchen role as a dishwasher at Stars Rooftop & Grill Room. Embracing every opportunity to learn from the seasoned chefs around her, Monique spent her off-hours refining her skills. Her dedication paid off when she was promoted to lead Stars’ banquet operations.

Her reputation began to proceed her in Charleston’s vibrant culinary scene, and she eventually joined The Darling Oyster Bar as a prep cook, quickly earning a full-time line cook position. In due time, her talent and leadership skills led her to Millers All Day, where she stepped into her first sous chef role, and in 2021, Monique returned to The Darling as executive sous chef, the kitchen she proudly calls home today.
