Michael Kalista

Driven by a love of oysters and a desire to kick his desk job to the curb and dedicate his career to something with a positive environmental impact, Michael Kalista began working with a South Carolina oyster farm in 2016. Shortly thereafter with the necessary knowledge and a shared vision, Michael and Aubrey Sanders began scouting locations for their own farm. Having settled on Steamboat Creek, on the North end of Edisto Island, the two began the arduous process of getting the required permits in the summer of 2018. Two years later and with permits in hand the two launched Steamboat Creek Oyster Farm and now supply a select group of Charleston area restaurants with their signature Steamboat Creek Oysters.
