Chef Letha McClary is the dynamic and innovative Executive Chef at 39 Rue de Jean, Charleston's premier French-inspired bistro nestled in the heart of the historic district. Letha has honed a sophisticated yet approachable style, combining traditional French techniques with fresh Lowcountry ingredients to craft vibrant, seasonal dishes that reflect the rich culinary heritage of Charleston.

A native of Kingstree, South Carolina, Letha developed her love of cooking alongside her grandmother, who instilled in her a love of Southern cuisine as she learned to master her famous red rice. Letha’s culinary career began after she graduated from The Art Institute of Charleston with a degree in Culinary Arts and began working as a line cook at 82 Queen. From there she moved on to 39 Rue de Jean and quickly made a name for herself in their kitchen. Letha was promoted to Sous Chef, then Chef de Cuisine, and finally Executive Chef within 2 years.

When not creating exceptional meals at 39 Rue de Jean, Chef Letha enjoys nothing more than spending time with her family.
