Kelly Mariani is the Culinary Director at Scribe Winery in Sonoma which she owns and runs alongside her brothers, Adam and Andrew. Growing up in a California family of fourth generation farmers, Kelly was passionate to continue her agricultural and culinary education and after graduating from the University of Washington, moved to Ireland to attend the well-regarded Ballymaloe Cookery School in East Cork. She went on to receive a Master’s in Human Ecology and Sustainability at the Slow Food University in Pollenzo, Italy (University of Gastronomic Sciences). She cooked at the progressive American Academy in Rome before returning to California to spend four years at Alice Water’s legendary restaurant Chez Panisse. Kelly opened the Scribe Hacienda in 2016 and developed Scribe’s unique and celebrated culinary program – inspired by the estate’s garden – to create food celebrating California’s extraordinary and distinctive bounty.
