Jessica Olin

Years of Participation

2022-2023

At a young age, Jessica Olin knew her passion was food. In fact, one of her earliest childhood memories is baking with blueberries and apples from The Piedmont of North Carolina.

Olin is an adventurer at heart which sparked her recent thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail (in its entirety) where she experienced Southern culture at its core. This deepened her admiration for what this landscape has to offer us and made her realize that she wanted to play a part in showing it off.

While she loves to utilize all the provisions of the Lowcountry, she finds the most inspiration in baking with plant-based ingredients. You’ll find that she enjoys re-creating nostalgic sweets that just happen to be vegan.

It makes her day when someone says that a dessert tastes like something from their childhood.

Desserts aren’t the only trick up Olin’s sleeve either. She is also at the helm of the Butcher & Bee wholesale pastry and bread program. Which means she’s quite literally elbow deep in flour several times a week. Currently you can find a variety of pastries like Pistachio Rose Morning Buns and Sourdough Boules at neighborhood favorite, The Daily.

When Olin isn’t baking or dreaming up a new vegan twist on childhood classics you can find her spending time soaking in the beauty of the outdoors.
