Jeffrey Compton is the Executive Chef and Partner of Armour House, a sophisticated neighborhood brasserie
located in the heart of downtown Birmingham, AL.
Growing up in Destin, FL, Compton began working in restaurants at a young age, landing his first
job bussing tables at McAlister’s Deli at 14 years old. Although he was working in front of the
house then, the kitchen soon piqued his interest. Setting his sights on a culinary path, he gained
experience cooking at several restaurants in the Sunshine State. In 2015, he relocated to Auburn,
AL, to pursue an accounting degree at a local college.
The same year, Compton reentered the hospitality industry as Sous Chef at Acre, a modern
Southern-inspired restaurant. In 2017, he was promoted to Chef de Cuisine, a role he held for
more than four years before joining the team at The Battery, an upscale restaurant and sports bar
in Homewood, AL, as Executive Chef.
In March 2023, Compton joined the Armour House team as Executive Chef and Partner. Taking
inspiration from his previous culinary experiences and travels across southern Europe, Compton
has curated a menu including innovative dishes with a rustic approach to traditional Southern
cooking. His dishes pay homage to beloved classics while prioritizing high-quality produce and
proteins. Alongside a dedicated team driven by a shared passion for hospitality, he hopes to
create a warm and inviting dining experience for every guest that walks through the door. He
strives to mentor and educate aspiring young chefs to have a sustainable future in the food space.
