Heather Greene’s journey in hospitality began in Natchitoches, Louisiana, where she learned the importance of hard work, land stewardship, and welcoming guests with generosity from her family. Her Meme taught her the art of making biscuits, canning preserves, and ensuring no guest left empty-handed, while her other grandparents shared the joys of fishing, formal dining, and respect for the land. These early experiences shaped her commitment to creating warm, inclusive hospitality experiences. Later, Heather attended the Penland School of Arts, where she honed her craft as a potter, creating handmade tableware that enhanced her dedication to the dining experience.
Over a decade as a professional potter, Heather’s connection to food and community flourished as she grew herbs and edible flowers for local restaurants. This creative path led her to establish her own catering business, invest in Charleston restaurants, and launch her consulting firm, Whole Hospitality Group. Heather is also a mentor for young women in hospitality, fostering a supportive environment inspired by her parents’ lessons in hard work, creativity, and joy.
A resident of the downtown Charleston peninsula for over 20 years, when Heather learned of Harold’s Cabin’s closure in February 2024, she knew that she wanted a chance to be a part of Harold’s Cabin’s next chapter. Applying decades of her combined art, culinary, sommelier, and hospitality expertise, Heather shared her vision to revive the Harold’s Cabin space in a letter to the former owners. Heather articulated a clear vision for the new venture to preserve legacy, prioritize community, connect purveyors with consumers, and evolve to meet a modern Charleston neighborhood’s needs. What she loves most about Lillian’s is her talented team, being able to support local farmers, and that it is creating a community hub where people can gather, share, and be present.
