Born and educated in Mexico, Chef Gabriel Haaz was raised in a family that loved cooking traditional and delicious food. When he was a child, he developed a passion for cooking by watching, helping, and learning alongside his grandmother. Chef Gabriel graduated from the Culinary Institute of Mexico, Puebla, and perfected his skill under Spanish Chef Martin Berasategui at the Three-Michelin Starred restaurant Martin Berasategui, Lasarte-Oria.
Chef Gabriel spent over a decade operating kitchens for The Ritz-Carton and Montage Hotels & Resorts, where he helmed diverse culinary programs in Amelia Island, Grand Cayman, San Francisco, Los Cabos and Big Sky.
As the Charleston Place Culinary Director, he is continuously striving to build upon his vision of providing exemplary food, comprehensive cuisine and extraordinary guest experience, while also encouraging a rewarding environment for his team.
