Anne White is the Culinary Director of Pastry for The Indigo Road. Born and raised in Patrick County, VA, White enjoyed baking as a hobby growing up. Though initially beginning a career in occupational therapy, White realized her passion was baking. Shifting her career path, she landed a job as a pastry assistant at Primland Resort in the Blue Ridge Mountains in 2015, where she officially began her career in the food and beverage industry. Working under Cynthia Carter at Primland Resort, White learned the basics of recipe development, menu planning, and kitchen etiquette, which ultimately led to her decision to develop a career in the industry. White enrolled at the Culinary Institute of Charleston, where she graduated with an Associate Degree in Baking and Pastry Arts in December 2018. During her time in culinary school, White gained valuable experience working all over the world, from Balmoral Castle in Scotland during the summer of 2016 to Wild Dunes Resort in Isle of Palms, SC from 2016-2018. Following graduation, White was hired as a pastry cook at Mercantile & Mash in Charleston, SC, and quickly worked her way up to Pastry Chef. She remained at Mercantile & Mash until 2021, when she joined the Oak Steakhouse team as Pastry Chef at the Skyline Lodge restaurant. It was in this role, White progressed to oversee all pastry for the North Carolina region.
White currently lives in Highlands, NC and when not working, enjoys reading, gardening, traveling, and spending time with her dog, Sully. When baking, her favorite desserts to create (and taste!) are pies and ice cream.
