The Communion: Rooted in Terroir

Circa 1886

Step inside the carriage house at the historic Wentworth Mansion and into Circa 1886, where old-world atmosphere meets creative cuisine. The port of Charleston was once the leading place of trade in the country, bringing culinary influences from around the globe. Those merged with indigenous foodways and native ingredients to create a cuisine that remains beloved today. Led by Executive Chef Marc Collins and Sommelier Cha McCoy – founder of the wine dinner experience, The Communion – this wine pairing dinner will celebrate American terroir and highlight indigenous varietals. Learn the challenges of mainstreaming these varietals and how the growth in their popularity could lead to more sustainable viticulture practices in the US. This bespoke evening will marry native foods + flavors with a menu that supports our local foodways to compliment the wines being poured.
