Field to Fork

Shuttle Pick-Up at Charleston Visitor Center & Bus Shed

375 Meeting St
Charleston, SC 29403

There is no doubt that Charleston has become the culinary darling of the country. And while we have a city stacked full of star-studded chefs and hot new restaurants, it’s the farmers, purveyors and fishermen that are the real stars of the plate. For this special excursion, guests will have the opportunity to see where the magic happens – in the field, literally, learning from the farmers who not only feed the Lowcountry, but whose fruits of labor continue to catapult our dining destination forward. Supported by the South Carolina Department of Agriculture and hosted by Stephanie Burt of The Southern Fork podcast, guests will tour multiple farms, selected for their variety of techniques and backstorie and end in a meal prepared by Jill Mathias of Chez Nous who regularly sources from the featured farmers. At Chez Nous, Mathias consistently  creates culinary excellence from the ripest bounty of the season and no two dishes are alike. This is one excursion you don’t want to miss.

This excursion is a unique opportunity to dig into the roots of Lowcountry produce, and understand the why, how, who and where of agriculture in this often-challenging landscape. Guests will receive an immersive experience that cannot be obtained by the general public, touring private land and learning its secrets from the people who revere it.

One of our most sought-after experiences, Excursions transport guests to the sacred nooks + crannies of the Lowcountry and allow for the invaluable opportunity for guests to be guided through an insightful + educational experience that incorporates the charm of Charleston with impeccable cuisine.
