Charleston’s foodscape is ever-changing; and while many places have come + gone, the dishes will always be remembered. Charleston Wine + Food’s For One Night Only series is a collection of events that are dedicated to bringing back iconic restaurants of Charleston’s past. Since the inception of this series we have recreated dining experiences from Two Boroughs Larder and Trattoria Lucca. This year we are bringing back a dearly missed, Charleston favorite Hominy Grill for One Brunch Only. When Robert Stehling’s Hominy Grill opened in 1996, its goals were simple – to explore the traditions and history of the Lowcountry through food and to create a neighborhood restaurant with a sense of place. "The Hominy" truly became a Charleston institution and gathered the attention of foodies and food media near and wide inspiring many to make the mecca Charleston to taste its Nasty Biscuit. When its closure was announced in 2019, the Charleston food community mourned its departure. At this special Charleston Wine + Food event, we are excited to welcome back and celebrate Chef Robert Stehling, and his impact on Southern cuisine and his vital role in Charleston’s development into a major culinary destination. Join us in the very space that was once home to Hominy Grill, now helmed by Chef Tom Donnelly who will help us pay a big Hominy homage for a meal you won’t soon forget and truly an experience that can’t be had during any other time!
