Like wine and food, people have many characteristics and stories that deserve to be celebrated. While Pride is recognized as a month-long celebration of LOVE and a time to acknowledge those in the LGBTQIA+ community, we are proud to promote + support individual wholeness every day of the year and are proud to be one of the recognized Safe Places in the City of Charleston.
Safe Place is a signage program implemented around the city – look for the SAFE PLACE sticker on the building’s window or exterior. Local supporting organizations, businesses, and schools have the opportunity to visibly display their support for the LGBTQIA+ community and encourage reporting and reducing anti-LGBTQIA+ crimes. Charleston Wine + Food and other participating entities – there are over 90 in the City of Charleston! – serve as locations supporting safe and secure places for members of the LGBTQIA+ community to go when they experience crimes, discrimination, or harassment.
As an organization, we value the intersection of identities and promote the safety of our LGBTQIA+ community members. We’re proud to celebrate this community and their many contributions to our city and culinary and hospitality community. Are you looking to dine or imbibe at a Safe Place? These local businesses in the City of Charleston are aligned as allies to the LGBTQIA+ community.
