Charleston Wine + Food

In celebration of Black History Month, we’re honoring the unique stories + experiences of the people who make up the many layers of our community. Monniquer (Moe) Peacock has served in the hospitality industry for over 8 years as a bartender and is an award-winning cocktail competitor. She strives to make an impact on the world, one drink at a time.

who taught you to cook and how do you honor them?

“My grandma is the one who taught me how to cook. As a little girl, I’d help her scale fish, chop potatoes for the potato salad, or baking cookies. One of the traditions that was passed on to me from her, Southern style Peach Cobbler and Baked Banana pudding.”

How has food influenced who you are as a person?

“Food has influenced me as a person due to the culture of community. Food has always been a reason for us as black people to come together as a collective, for birthdays, anniversaries, family reunions, Sunday dinners, church fish fry, & sometimes that promotion at work. I haven’t been to a celebration where there wasn’t food served.”

What legacy do you want to leave?

“The legacy I want to leave is making my mark on the world through bringing people together through good food and cocktails made with love.”
