In celebration of Black History Month, we’re honoring the unique stories + experiences of the people who make up the many layers of our community. Oscar Douglas is a Charleston native and small business owner – Founder + CEO of Omega Security Solutions, LLC – and a key member of the festival’s security team. You’ll see Oscar around the festival grounds – be sure to give him a wave and a thank you!
who taught you to cook and how do you honor them?
“While I learned to dabble in the kitchen at an early age with my mom and grandma, it was my late father-in-law who influenced me the most. His family barbecues were legendary, and he taught me the art of “slow-cooking” on the grill. My legacy would be to continue his time-honored tradition of large, backyard, family gatherings filled with storytelling and laughter – all while enjoying your favorite beverage (preferably bourbon for me and red wine for my wife).”
