Charleston Wine + Food

Like wine and food, people have many characteristics + stories that deserve to be celebrated. As an organization, we are committed to creating inclusive experiences and we acknowledge + support individual wholeness. As we enter June and the beginning of Pride month, we’re highlighting the year-round support we have for the LGBTQIA community as a designated Safe Place in the City of Charleston.

As a Safe Place, we are committed to promoting the safety of all LGBTQIA community members, discouraging discrimination against any person or group of people, and valuing the intersection of identities.

Safe Place is a signage program implemented around the city. Local supporting organizations, businesses, and schools have the opportunity to visibly display their support for the LGBTQIA community and encourage reporting + reducing anti-LGBTQIA crimes. Charleston Wine + Food and other participating entities – there are over 90 in the City of Charleston! – serve as locations supporting safe + secure places for members of the LGBTQIA community to go when they experience crimes, discrimination, or harrassment.

We’re proud to celebrate the LGBTQIA community and their many contributions to our city and culinary + hospitality community. Are you looking to dine or imbibe at a Safe Place? These local businesses in the City of Charleston are aligned as allies to the LGBTQIA community – look for the SAFE PLACE sticker on the building’s window or exterior.
