Local adventurers Josh and Macy Fu hit the road in a new Toyota Venza this past weekend, traveling east from Atlanta to spend a weekend in the Holy City. From time spent on the water to experiencing some favorite local eateries, their trip was nothing short of a good time.

Kings Courtyard Inn in historic downtown Charleston served as the perfect home away from home for Josh and Macy. Its trio of intimate interior courtyards provided a serene place to unwind in between activities.

If you’re looking for fresh, local goodness, look no further than Huriyali. Featuring a variety of organic bowls + smoothies, health-forward savory delights, and a full coffee + espresso bar, Josh and Macy made sure to start their day off on the right foot.

LUNCH STOP: SPANGLISH COCINA + BAR

After spending the morning exploring the streets of Charleston, Josh and Macy settled in at Cuban-American concept Spanglish Cocina + Bar. Serving authentic + traditional Cuban food prepared with vibrant + colorful ingredients, this mid-day meal left the duo ready to conquer their next adventure.

AFTERNOON EXCURSION: BARRIER ISLAND OYSTER CO.

Josh and Macy spent the afternoon on the water with the team at Barrier Island Oyster Co., learning about the process of oyster farming and how we can use restorative growing methods to preserve the pristine Lowcountry waterways. They even got to sample Barrier Island’s premium Sea Cloud oysters straight from the water… yum!

DOWNTOWN DINNER: MAISON

To round out their night, Josh and Macy settled in at Maison – a small French bistro on the upper Charleston peninsula – for a meal that left their tastebuds saying, “Oui!” Bringing the flavors of France to the Lowcountry, Chef Vandy Vanderwarker interprets classic French cuisine through a modern lens, creating dishes full of authenticity + comfort.
