Vandy started cooking when he was twelve, collaborating with his mother to try recipes he’d seen on TV. He continued his interest in cooking throughout college, and when he graduated, attended The French Culinary Institute in New York. This sparked his love of French cooking. After working in a series of restaurants in New York, he decided to move to Charleston where he refined his style at some of city’s top restaurants. After fifteen years of cooking for others, Vandy decided to go out on his own. He teamed up with a front-of-the-house partner, Will Love, together developed the concept, and opened Maison last March.
