As the winemaker for Perception Wines, Mark Ray combines a lifetime of exposure to wine, with more than a decade of hands-on experience working at such acclaimed wineries as Turley, Neyers Vineyards and Williams Selyem. Mark grew up in a South Carolina restaurant family and learned the joys of food & wine in the Lowcountry. A huge amount of Mark’s experience with and passion for great wines came from his time serving as sommelier at Restaurant Million, the Woodlands & Charleston Grill. Mark left Charleston to pursue winemaking in 2000, landing in the heart of the Napa Valley. Working with partners Shane MacNicholas and Dean Felber, he crafts a small portfolio of exceptional Russian River Valley Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Zinfandel.
