North Charleston, SC | Fresh Future Farm
Germaine Jenkins is a native of SC who was raised in Ohio. She moved to the Lowcountry with her two young children to attend Johnson & Wales University. Her personal struggles with food insecurity fueled her need to find affordable ways to grow organic foods. After completing Commercial Urban Agriculture training with Growing Power Inc. Germaine won a Feeding Innovation Competition and seed capital to start Fresh Future Farm Inc. an urban farm and neighborhood grocery store in the heart of a food desert. Like her mentor Will Allen, Germaine believes that growing and selling food where it’s consumed can impact health and socioeconomic disparities.
