  • Ted Lee grew up in Charleston, South Carolina, graduated from Amherst College, and received an MFA in fiction writing from the Writers Workshop at the University of Iowa. In 1994, he founded the Lee Bros. Boiled Peanuts Catalogue, a mail-order source for Southern pantry staples, with his brother and writing partner, Matt Lee. Matt Lee and Ted Lee write about food for magazines and newspapers and are the wine columnists for Martha Stewart Living. Since 2001, they have been contributing editors at Travel + Leisure. Their first cookbook, The Lee Bros. Southern Cookbook, won the 2007 Julia Child Award from the IACP and the 2007 James Beard Foundation Award for “Cookbook of the Year.” The Lee Bros. SIMPLE FRESH SOUTHERN, their second cookbook, was published in 2009 by Clarkson Potter.
