WHERE IS THE FESTIVAL LOCATED?

The heart of the festival is our Culinary Village (March 1-5, 2017) located in Marion Square, a large historic park in the center of downtown Charleston. Additional festival events, from dinners to workshops to excursion to parties, happen all over Charleston and the surrounding areas, and the majority of festival events are in the downtown area, all walkable from Marion Square. When they are not, we often offer a shuttle to more remote locations (check individual event descriptions for shuttle).

WHAT IS THE CULINARY VILLAGE?

The Culinary Village is truly the heart of the Charleston Wine + Food festival and is buzzing with activities and excitement all weekend long! Your day pass to the Culinary Village is a full day experience. Check back soon for more 2017 details!

ARE THERE FREE EVENTS?

All events require a ticket. If you are seeking affordable event tickets, please use our “Under $100” filter in TICKETS to find an event that fits your budget. Promotions and giveaways for 2017 are on their way, so please follow the festival on all social media and subscribe to our newsletter for new information.

  • Marion Square – 399 King Street
  • Camden Exchange – 47 John Street

WHERE SHOULD I STAY AND HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I BOOK ACCOMODATIONS?

Charleston offers an array of hotels to fit your budget. Lodging surrounding Marion Square include The Francis Marion Hotel, The Courtyard by Marriot, and the Embassy Suites. Other accommodations include Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina, Charming Inns, Doubletree by Hilton Hotel & Suites Charleston, The Charleston Marriott, The Vendue, The Mills House and Zero George. Many hotels offer packages featuring hard-to-get festival tickets, so check those out on our TICKET page.

CAN I BRING MY CHILDREN OR DOG TO THE FESTIVAL?

No children or dogs are allowed. NO EXCEPTIONS.

HOW DO I GET THE FULL FESTIVAL EXPERIENCE?

The full festival experience includes at least one day in our Culinary Village, along with attending several bigger events like Opening Night Party (Wednesday, March 1) and smaller, more intimate events like our Signature Dinner Series, special brunches, lunches, or excursions around Charleston’s surrounding areas. Our beverage seminars, featuring wines, beers and cocktails are exceptional. Check out our ticket packages to enjoy a curated Festival experience, and our hotel packages offer hard-to-get tickets along with hotel rooms. There’s no way to do the festival wrong, but for a full experience, plan at least 2 events per day.

WHAT HAPPENS IF AN EVENT IS SOLD OUT?

There are many events to pick from, so if your first choice is sold out, we encourage you to find another that tempts your taste buds. There are over 100 events to choose from, and each one has been carefully created to be a delicious and unique experience. If your heart is set on a certain event, contact our Ticketing Department (ticketing@charlestonwineandfood.com) to be added to our wait list. If we have a cancellation, you could get a coveted spot!

IS EVERY EVENT WALKABLE? WILL I NEED A RENTAL CAR?

The majority of the Festival events are walkable from Marion Square. If not, we often provide shuttles. If you want to explore some of Charleston’s surrounding areas like our pristine beaches or golf courses, a rental car is helpful. Charleston also has taxis and pedicabs available. Charleston also provides a free downtown trolley through our visitor’s center at 375 Meeting Street and our bus system CARTA is also available.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR AND BRING?

Dress for comfort in walking shoes and minimal bags as seating in the Culinary Village is limited. Charleston’s weather can be unpredictable in March, so definitely check the weather forecast 2-3 days before traveling. It can be rainy (hopefully not!) or warm.

ANY TIPS FOR PREPARATION FOR A DAY AT THE FESTIVAL?

Come with an open mind and palate, a friendly disposition and don’t worry if you don’t stick exactly to your planned schedule –the beauty of the festival is there is always something going on!

I HAVE A QUESTION NOT ANSWERED HERE. NOW WHAT?
